Soul songs

I do not care for future speak

It robs me of today

Nor will I live in long gone past

It steals the very same way

I know the games my mind will play

I leave it to its folly

Deny or heed, I give it power

To share its melancholy

I’d rather rest upon today

Where heart and soul are present

Bask rich in moment’s gifts for me

Not be my mind’s best peasant

My mind is free to do as it likes

I’ll watch it scurry and ping

But spin alone it will have to do

For I have soul songs to sing
