Ten Suggestions For AWESOME RELATIONSHIP In Today’s World

Francis Chan, author of Crazy Love, has a bit of a different take on the Ten Commandments. He perceives them not as scary orders you must obey, but loving instruction in the form of laws, that if followed, teach you to have beautiful relationship with God, yourself, and others. Striving to obey the law does not have to be a fearful endeavor, but can instead be loving acceptance of and gratitude for the opportunity to live in relationship as God would have us do. His laws are tools for Right Relationship! Isn’t that what we are here for?

Taking his perspective a step further, I would like to share my perspective with you in the form of some suggestions to inspire and encourage you to create and truly enjoy awesome relationship in today’s world.

 1. Fall in love with God as He already is with you. Make Him your #1 relationship and pass His love on to others.

2. Don’t bow down to the images of success in today’s world. If they are not based in love, they are not from the Father.

3. Why would you curse the very Source of your awesome life? If you are not speaking of love, leave God’s name out of it.

4. God knows that everyone needs a time of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. What better time or place than with Him on His day?

5. For all their faults, your parents are your parents. Just as you honor God for giving you life, honor your parents for loving you to the best of their ability by loving them to the best of your ability.

6. We are not here to take life, but to give as much life to others as we can. If what you do is not about love, don’t do it.

7. Why would you ever want to be the poison in your own or someone else’s relationship by sleeping with another person’s spouse and calling it love. It just isn’t.

8. Oh the bounty God provides for each of us! Don’t take. Share!

9. What purpose is there in lying about one another? Certainly it is not for love.

10. Why waste your time gazing upon the perceived riches of others. Do you really want to miss the blessings God gave you while you are busy craning your neck over the fence?

“His commands are a gift to us. They are a necessary thing. This would be such a better place to live if you guys didn’t rip each other off, didn’t lie to each other, you just were  honest with each other, if you could love each other as much as you love yourself, this would be an amazing place.” – Francis Chan talking about The Ten Commandments in the video below:

*Please note that I am in no way attempting to change or replace The Ten Commandments as I respect God’s Word. I just want to share a different perspective to encourage you to live a life of extraordinary relationship with the Giver of life, yourself, and all the brothers and sisters He has gifted you with.

  1. Terri, I saw that movie too. It was disturbing to think what others find normal or acceptable. Love your ideas. I see life in a much more simple way than many people and find that honesty, truth, love and treating others as we would want to be treated is mostly what it’s all about. I also see how we have ruined many a life going after material things. Thanks for an important message.
    Love to you today.

  2. Our world today needs these thoughts. Thank you for sharing!

  3. This is amazing. Great way of putting it in the most simple way. Just enough to smack you on the side of the hear and make you say…duuhh! It’s simple, love God and love others. Thanks 🙂
