The power of contentment-wanting what you have.

How many times have you heard it? You can have it all! If you work hard and plan well you can have anything and everything you want. And here is the important part: when you have it you will be happy. Did you catch that? Your happiness is contingent upon getting all that you want.

Make more money. Buy a bigger home. Get a better job. Get a better body. Own the latest gadgets. You can have what you want and life will be perfect and you will be supremely happy. All you need to do is manage to make everything you think will make you happy happen.

But what if you were to decide to want what you have instead of chasing after what you want? What if you were truly content with all the gifts you already have in your life? What would happen if you decided to be happy now?

Just as there is power in living in the now – Living your best life in the now – there is power in being content with what you have already been given.

Does that mean that you do not plan or work or move ahead? No it does not. It means that rather than living in your someday plans for the future with hopes of being happy and missing what is right in front of you, you remain grounded in the moment enjoying what you already have as you move forward and grow.

Think about it. Do you want to be happy today or strive to maybe be happy in the future? You really only have minimal power over the future because life happens regardless of what you do. The good news is that you have great power over how you choose to look at today. Choose contentment. Enjoy your gifts. Be happy now.
